History of the Creation and Dismantling of Producers’ Co-operative Society in the USSR

Abstract

On the basis of archival sources this study analyzes the features of the organization, functioning, causes and consequences of the liquidation of co-operative artels in the Soviet producers’ co-operative society. The authors come to the conclusion that the institutionalization of producers’ co-operative society activities was based on deep social practices for the efficient resource development that had evolved outside state regulation, and their dismantlement did not occur during the liquidation of producers’ co-operative system.
