Abstract

This  article  examines  sociocultural,  technological,  staffing, and  research-related  barriers  that  hinder  the  integration  of  music-based  practices  into  the  work  of  Russian  profession-als  providing  care  for  older  adults  —  both  in  home-based  settings  and  in  medical  and  social  residential  facilities.  The  proposed classification of barriers is grounded in discussions within  the  Russian  professional  community  and  draws  upon  findings from international research.
